Trick or treating with Super Lice???

They feed on human blood and might go after your children this Halloween. This isn’t a tale – it’s super lice! Halloween is scary enough without the threat of head lice.

Around Halloween, professional lice clinics see a spike in cases, said Magdalena Muldoon, the owner of Lice Clinics DFW.  During Halloween, risk is high, as children share hats, hairbrushes, wigs and costumes. Magdalena said most people shouldn’t worry about renting or borrowing costumes to wear in the future, because head lice can’t survive without blood for longer than 24 hours.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports about 6 million to 12 million lice infestations in kids ages 3 through 11 years old each year.

“A parent should be aware and check their children’s heads over the few weeks after Halloween” said Magdalena. Fortunately, there are professional services like Lice Clinics DFW that are available to make treating head lice more of a treat.
